Great product March 16, 2010 American Consumer As an early adopter of the e-reader, I had purchased a model that did not have a built in light. Therefore, I would use clip on lights to read at night, and it never provided for a comfortable reading experience. After doing some extensive research, I found out about this product, which is no longer sold at Sony. The cover is extremely functional, and the light shield makes reading at night very easy. The added weight is not really a factor, and I carry the book with me everywhere. I have modified it by creating a chain that uses a lobster claw to attach to the reader and a chain to the actual cover, in case the tabs of the cover break, so that the reader doesn't fall to the ground (again). Overall, excellent product.
reader cover amd light February 23, 2010 Julie Cannon (usa) This is a great item. I think everyone with a reader needs one of these.
Blurry, weak, and bulky October 8, 2009 S. Griggs (Colorado Springs, Colorado) I was hoping to compensate for the lack of a backlight on my PRS-505 Sony Reader. Unfortunately, this product fails miserably and was a big disappointment. It obfuscates the reader's text because one side is textured to disburse the light from the weak LED lights embedded in the spine of the apparatus. You are much better off holding a flashlight in your teeth. The only good things I can say about the item is that the build quality, as far as materials, is good. That's the only thing that kept me from giving it one star. Don't buy one of these. Get yourself one of the kind that have a little light that shines down on the face of the reader without obscuring your view.
Sony Ebook page light September 7, 2009 J. Thomas 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My wife just loves her Sony PRS505 reader but wanted to be able to illuminate the reader at night. We tried a clip on device, but it generated too much glare. Then we saw the Sony cover with light in a Sony retail store. It was really neat but expensive. Nevertheless, we found one much cheaper on the web, even though they are fairly scarce. The cover with light is a great accessory for the PRS505.

Works great..a bit heavy/clumsy but until the makers of these products produce a backlit screen this works very well.
